TLP Audio Branded Phonostages--by Gilbert Yeung Designs
Since 2000, TLP Audio has sold Blue Circle Audio products designed by Gilbert Yeung. Although Blue Circle Audio closed in January of 2019, Gilbert is continuing on with the part of his business that he enjoyed the most; audio design. We therefore asked him to design some products exclusively for us. After many hours of discussions, we are pleased to announce the availability of the products below.
TLP Audio TPS 10 Phono Stage
The TPS 10 is a high-performance phono stage that has user-adjustable 61db high gain and 39db low gain. Gain change is accomplished by flipping a couple of small dip switches inside the unit. The TPS 10 phono stage itself is housed in an unobtrusive metal chassis for low noise performance.
The power supply is housed in a smallish ABS box that can be "hidden" out-of-sight behind the TPS 10 box.
With the total power supply supply capacitance at over 100,000uF, this ensures a solid bass foundation. Carefully-placed high-speed bypass capacitors result in silky-smooth highs and rich, warm mids. This combination provides Gilbert Yeung's Blue Circle Audio legendary cost vs. performance ratio. Additionally, the proprietary DC power supply circuitry design is used in the TPS-10 to ensure highest possible performance.
In fact, the TPS 10's performance is better than the legandary Blue Circle Fon Lo Thingee in a box with Really Big Power Supply. When compared to the Fon Lo Thingee with Really Big Pipe Power Supply costing over $1000, the TLP TPS10 is an outstanding value.

TLP Audio TPS 20 Phono Stage
TPS 20 is the second phonostage in the TLP Audio phonostage lineup. The RIAA equalization curve tracks within 0.1dB of its specification. It is THE NEW reference standard for every relevant specification that we have tested. It has been through the toughest tests in terms of high gain and low noise. NO other phono stage is as quiet as the TPS 20. It has topped the best tube phonostage that our collective ears have heard.
It has gain that can match any CD line level. It has 5 levels of gain settings with the highest one being a remarkable 87dB without using an input transformer! That's 10 times louder than most MC phonostages and with less noise. Without an input transformer, that means you are totally free to experiment with different loading to optimize MC cartridge performance. All the switchable gain, impedance and capacitance loading is done internally with gold-plated jumpers. Jumpers provide the most reliable long-term connections compared to switches, including front panel or internal dip switches.
The TPS 20 has a separate MC and MM input for optimum matching. It is selectable via a toggle switch on the rear panel. It also features a switchable rumble filter for those listeners who have full-range speakers that are deep bass-capable. TPS 20 is a hybrid discrete transistor/opamp design. It uses the best of both circuitry types. The design is simple, yet functional and certainly not trendy. You won't find the usual run-of-the-mill brand name parts inside. Instead, what you will find is the best components used in the most suitable fashion. The internal power supply is the venerable "beefy" Gilbert-design with with over 282,000uF of capacitance. When the optional TG1 or TG2 power supply plus SP Capacitor Pack is added, it can run for a minute without A/C power. Under these conditions, it is totally brownout proof.
Fundamentally the TPS 20 is sonically neutral. What you hear is what's "there", nothing more or less. It lets everything from your vinyl come through. At this performance level and price range, there is no point in discussing how it sounds more than we already have. There is nothing anywhere near the TLP 20 that can touch it.
TG1 Power Supply
The TG1 power supply is housed in a smallish ABS box that can be "hidden" out-of-sight behind the TPS 20 box.
With the total power supply supply capacitance at over 100,000uF, this ensures a solid bass foundation. Carefully-placed high-speed bypass capacitors result in silky-smooth highs and rich, warm mids. This combination provides Gilbert Yeung's Blue Circle Audio legendary cost vs. performance ratio. Additionally, the proprietary DC power supply circuitry design is used in the TPS-20 to ensure highest possible performance.
TG1 Retail Price: $169.00
TG2 Power Supply
The TG2 power supply is housed in a metal box that is the size of the TPS10.
With its total power supply supply capacitance at over 470,000uF, this ensures a solid bass foundation. Carefully-placed high-speed bypass capacitors result in silky-smooth highs and rich, warm mids. This combination provides Gilbert Yeung's Blue Circle Audio legendary cost vs. performance ratio. Additionally, the proprietary DC power supply circuitry design is used in the TPS-20 to ensure highest possible performance.
