Gilbert, what is this? A capacitor pack to fit between the PS and amp stages or a PS in its own right?

Or it a volume knob mod?

On the question of 6922 tubes. When operating points are critical, the new crop of 6922s can be probelematic. You'd think because so many are basically Russian, they would all follow the EH brand. But, A this is not the case and B they don't publish their operating curves. The right OP for an EH may...

The sleeper preamp, again

Several -- it seems like 20 -- years ago, Gilbert made me a special SBH headphone amp that included a separate preamp. It had volume controls for both the headamp and the preamp (they can be played simultaneously), common balance controls, and a gain switch (hi-lo), plus 2 inputs and 2 inputs. (I sh...

Yup. Bad processor, he said. It's in the transport electronics/software. I got a CD Zero as a loaner!

Hi Bob,

My AN CD 4.1/x crapped out unexpectedly: blue screen and nothing else. Maybe I ought to take a closer look at BC501b or BC507 Dac; maybe even a battery-powered one, at that. Of course, I'd have to buy a transport. Audio Note top loader?

I also think Bob writes well, but better yet, he communicates what he hears well. I don't know anyone who is better.

Now, for Bob, which Dac are you taking to RMAF!

NSP? NSL?

Is this a secret or should I use a UV lamp on my computer screen to read the invisible print?

Tell me (us?) more Gilbert.

I am a lowish power lover.

New headphones for my SBH

I just had a pair of Audeze LDC-2 headphones delivered to Colorado for my pickup in September. I've waited since RMAF 2009! I currently use K-701s. I heard a number of headphones at RMAF and this was the best of the lot. I don't think there will be any matching problems. I will report back later in ...

Good luck. I guess a lot has changed since I looked into this. I am slowly becoming more favorable to the hard disk as a source for digital music, but with an outboard Dac doing the DA work. As a member of "the less mobile" generation, I still prefer good CD players or transport + DAC arrangements f...

I personally have not heard an upsample device that sound like music yet. May be I am deaf but every upsampling device for music reproduction only make the music sound artifical and metallic. It's almost like trying to take the music apart and put them back together in a very poor way. Don't up sam...

Re: Computer Speakers and Sound Cards

and an "audiophile" type sound card as I see they are referred to. I'm looking to spend $300-400. I agree with BJH because there is no thing as an audiophile sound card and how are you going to get the digital signal to your speakers? You'll still need a preamp + amp, or integrated amp. So do as he...
