Wavelength + BC magic

I think Wavelength Dacs may have an unknown technological affinity for Gilbert's "dark shadow" preamp stages, or vice-versa. I hear great transparency, rhythm, definition and inner resolution with their bottom of the line technology mated with a pretty basic BC preamp stage + lots of filtering. Mayb...

What's happening?

I'm listening to The Well, stupified. I am listening through some Audeze orthos connected to an SBH with a big custom power pack that Gilbert built for me ages ago, it seems like. What's driving this? A MacBook hooked up to a Wavelength USB DAC, The Proton. This is a battery powered Dac at the botto...

Using a MAC + BC Dac with USB connection?

Does anyone do this? What is your experience? Have you had a chance to compare this with other computer USB Dacs? I read a lot about the superb audio quality from USB Dacs that use Wavelength's technology for jitter reduction/rejection.

There is no substitute for listening

I recently got myself in a cross-fire between a builder of high-end Dacs who makes no attempt to reduce jitter in his Dacs and believes that USB is inferior to SPDIF and one who only sells high-end Dacs with asynchronous USB converter technology. There's no room for reasoning here. You have to liste...

Thanks Mike, I hadn't heard it. I'll have to be more diligent.

Re: NOS 6SN7's

The expert on this tube is Frihed89, know to his friends as "Mac." If you're reading this, Mac, time to contribute your wisdom to the conversation. Hahaha....I'm one of those dumb saps who had a 40 year supply of 6SN7 tubes and then cut that to 20 years by spending $15,000 on equipment that used th...

Howe Gelb AKA Giant Sand, Blacky Ranchette + several others

I have recently become attached to this singer. Blurry Blue Mountain, his most recent release is pretty good, along with Provisions and Sno Angel, like me. He seems to have a lot of home pages, so just google Howe Gelb or Giant Sand. If you like Bill Callahan, Leonard Cohen and other baritones who h...

Well if it plays anything like, or even, the old CS it replaced, it will like the various reincarnations of the LS3/5A, of which the Harbeth H-3 model is the best. It also sounded good with the Harbeth C-7. But I'll bet it would really fit in best with the Bliss models in the new line of JMR speaker...

Nice review

The review coincided with a trip to see and listen to my old CS that i sold to a friend. I took over my LS3/5As, which I didn't have when I had the CS. Many smiling faces when the music started! I forgot how nice this amp sounded for the money. With the preamp circuit in my SBH, it would sound even ...

It's a DAC 109 with what added?

The problem with reading from the top down is

You get history in reverse. Now, us oldies (i am old; Bob is border-line) find this troubling because we used to read books, see films, and walk around in a world when things happened from past to present and that is how the media allowed us to experience them. But now, you kids are growing up in a ...
