Gilbert, Is it possible to do this for a 1/4" plug on the headphone cable?

My speakers are all easy to drive and/or sensitive. 25W is a lot of power compared to 1.5W

Nice comparison

Nice, Bob. I know the sound of your amp through two of your JMRs. I've heard the Tocaro 42s, not sufficiently broken in to do themselves justice, but I certainly get where you are coming from.

Glad to see it after all these years. Based on what little Gilbert says about the amp, it's bound to be better than the original CS, which was my first venture into hi-fi, and that was a great starter amp to say the least. In fact, it is still alive and well in Copenhagen, owned by a close friend of...

Ask Gilbert about the preamp section of the SBH he built for Chowderhead. I use this preamp as a backup for my deHavilland UV-3 with a variety of tube amps from 1.5-75W. It sounds very good with 45, 2A3, 300B SET amps and KT88 and sweeptube triode PP amps I have.

Nothing, except a CCA tube, will beat a Telefunken or older Siemens E188CC. In the same breath: I have recently seen some pretty decent Amperex Holland 7803s for sale under $200. I bought a pair. They can't match the two above- mentioned tubes, but they are pretty nice. Telefunken 6DJ8s are also amo...

Does that also mean it can replace the standard power supply in the SBH?

Despite all the rave reviews of current production 6SN7s, they do not better almost any NOS 6SN7GT. Besides, the various models that are still around offer a much wider range of color(s) than the new tubes, which are either fuzzy or sharp.

Yes, I've been on both band wagons since 2007. I have the SBH and a SinglePower MPX3 tube amp. They really don't sound that different to me. Both are excellent. My favored headphones are the K-701s with both. I caught the Audeze flu and quickly recovered after finding out that the bass, mid-range an...

I wish I didn't hear differences between various cable brands and models. I also wish it were possible to use coat hanger wire to make ICs....life would be so much easier.

No not me, but I can comment on the difference between BC3000-II and BC3-II. Not much, yes it's there and you would want it but the BC3 is so damn close it hardly matters. The one you're looking at is the new entry model with everything in one box. My guess would be that it would be a step down fro...

BC 3PLS

I've been reading up on this preamp and talking with Gilbert. I would appreciate any additional comments about how it sounds, as is, without upgrades. Also, on a slightly different subject, I recall -- i think -- that someone (bjh?) long ago had Gilbert build them a 6SN7 BC 21.1. If I'm right and th...

It also goes with Neko Case, Jason Collette and Neil Young. Must be something Canadian, but Gordon Rankin is from Indianapolis, poor guy.
