Re: The not all new but new enough BC515 Digital to Analog Converter

I know I'll be hanging on to my daily user, the BC501ob LOC KQ, for a good long time. This thing simply sounds more natural and organic than my other two DACs: Meitner ma1 and the DAC in the highly regarded Accuphase DP-720 SACD player.

Keep up the good work Gilbert, I'll be after another DAC soon.

Best I've heard yet

Recently hooked up my custom BC mono amps along with a recently acquired NSL amp in a biamp config. NSL for the mid/high, monos for lows.
This takes everything the NSL does so well and adds more refinement, solidity and punch.
Just WOW ... fabulous.

Hey nikki, where do you position the 24x filters in relation to your monoblocs? I'm thinking of some sort of solution like this.

Thanks

Such a cable is available from Wireworld. Their analog interconnects are tough to beat as well.

I'm going to go with balanced interconnects, move the sources and preamp off to the side and add a monoblock near each speaker ... and lose the TV, which I don't watch. I'd also like to rewire the system with one brand ... I'm thinking and have heard good things of Wireworld.(any thoughts there?) Th...

Different length interconnects

So whats the general consensus on this. I'd like to run one 4.5m and one 2.5m interconnect from preamp to mono amps.

Is it best to use two x 4.5m and coil or snake one up? Looks tidier with different lengths for sure.

I will second Nikki's opinion on the Toslink glass fiber vs plastic. I had used an Audioquest OptiLink-3 polymer cable for quite some time and switched to a 3m Silflex glass Toslink with superior results. The whole system just seemed to have a cleaner and sharper character. Not sure if it would be w...

Gilbert,

The internals of this AB DAC look different from previous BC501ob pictures.
Could you outline what's changed.

Sure do like that 47 x 2 stepped volume control.
Is a std. 3000II upgradable to this along with the GZpz power supply? (new box I guess)
What exactly is the USB input for?

What makes this particular GZpz the masterpiece?

I was considering it myself ... maybe go new.
