Will the model depicted in your original post be able to drive the HE-6?
This was awhile ago. I use a bc 204 for he6 with an adapter from gilbert. I see Bob neill has a FTth integrated used for a good price which would be a brilliant match. Fwiiw.

I often use my be 204 with headphones. You can use something like the Hifiman adapter (which affects the dynamics) or one one of the balanced connectors from some of then cable makers. Or you can have Gilbert make an adapter for you, which is what I did. Good luck. http://www.tlp-audio.com/forum/vie...

See that you are selling. I wonder if you are looking for more midrange in the FtTH if it would be worth trying a Mullard tube which may have a little more mid-warmth. Just s thought. Good luck.

Re: Converting 200 series amps to solid state

Hi All, I am thinking about changing the input stage of my BC204 to solid state. Has anyone done this? What was the result? Thanks! Hi. I had my 204 modified so that it has a solid state and a tube input stage. the tube stage is modified so that it uses one tube (which gilbert says is biased higher...

It really is all diminshing returns -- you can get music out of a modest system that can make you smile if you (I me mean here) forget your pretentions for a few minutes. Assuming you have a budget and other things to do sometimes, I think you slow sown when your system gets pretty good, because the...

I am quite happy with the upgrade to the preamp. The whole system sounds more engaging and the staging is just so natural. Brilliant piece of equipment.

Nothing you can see, but i switched out the power cord to the bc3000 and was surprised at how much difference it makes. I know power cords matter in my lower power tube stuff, but always felt with all the filtering and big power supplies with the bc gear there would be less of a difference. i tried ...
