John Martyn Solid Air

I have owned the better part of 5,000 LP's over the years and this album has to rank pretty near the top of the list for me. Recorded in 1972, its a rich tapestry of styles blended together, an eclectic stew of folk, jazz, rock and blues. An album that creates a mood with accomplished songwriting and musicianship powered by the deep and unabashed vocals of John Martyn. The title track, Solid Air is the opening salvo and there is no let up from there. The sound quality is rich and textured and will please the discriminate listener. The wonderful Brit acoustic bassist Danny Thompson supplies the muscle at that end with Martyn playing acoustic and electric guitar. Pretty much essential listening for anyone who is really into music. Originally recorded on Island records and is being re-released on vinyl in April. Timeless LP. Bon appetit.[/img]
