From the Vinyl Vault...Dusty in Memphis

Being a longtime Dusty Springfield fan, my heart went aflutter when this double LP showed up Amazon. I already had the Rhino CD w/Bonus Tracks but this album was just all the original material and done at 45 RPM on 2 discs. This 1969 recording originally on Atlantic records has been meticulously restored by a group called Analogue Productions mastered from the original master tape, cut at 45 RPM. The original recording was marred by a fair bit of surface noise which has all but disappeared. Springfields voice is front and centre with a greater sense of presence and openness than previous outings of this LP. Pretty much the perfect album in terms of musical support from the players, the string section and the Atlantic production team. One of Dusty's best efforts if not her best. On a decent system its a pretty formidible record in both performance and sound. Get it if you can.
