Double D's updated rig April 2010

Post by Double D » Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:33 am

Figured it had been an age since my system was updated on here, so here we go..
Pre-amp is the BC303-DWBB, yeah that's the power supply for the pre-amp in the corner.. 8) , sources are the Marantz SA-11S2, and MD102"T", Power amp is my venerable BC206, and speakers are Harbeth Monitor 30's on Foundation stands. Cabling is all Transparent Ultra MM1.
Power filtering is a BC6000 with a MusicRing1200 chained to it. The 206 is straight off the wall with a BC68mk2 parrallel.
Gear is sitting on Cambre CORE stands.
Power cords are either BC 62's or GutWire C-clef's and PowerClef's. Image

The vinyl spinner is in a secondary (smaller) rig in another room. It may soon get merged with the main rig, but a lot of my vinyl is less than "perfect", so, I'm just having fun with vinyl in a secondary rig. It keeps "audiophilia nervosa" from taking over IF vinyl moves to the main system.

This is one imposing looking system. The size of your 206 alone is really put into perceptive! WOW...! Image

DD
That's a great looking setup. I think a NSL would fit nicely into this decor

Just curious what made you move away from the Verity? I heard the Sarastro and Lohengrin at the Montreal show and really enjoyed them. A little pricey however.

Are the Harbeth's a better match than the Verity's?

Let's just say, that in the context of this room (which is known to be a bit quirky.. ) and the system that they are paired with.. Yes, I am overall happier with the Harbeths. 8)
I am listening to a broader scope of music again, and enjoying it a lot more.
I am still considering pivoting the room back so that the speakers will fire the length of the room.. but I'm just enjoying for now .. that's obviously a full days work to re-jig it.
But, let me also state, that I almost wish that I still had the Verity's here for the impending re-visit of the NSL amp. I think perhaps that would have been a match made in heaven, if what I heard of the NSL was right when it was here about a month or so ago.

:D I have Lagavulin and am willing to travel great distances to listen to a rig like that....I would love to hear what that amplifier preamplifier could do with my Mani-2 speakers. Your system looks wonderful.

Well guys, I'm not much of a drinker... but if there is interest in having a listen, it's not a problem.
The NSL is returning tomorrow (Sunday) for another round.. this is getting to be like a UFC re-match card.. So, this should be pretty interesting to see what the outcome is. 8)
