Gilbert,
I just saw the pics of the AB DAC in your flickr section with the maple wood fronts. It looks great. It looks like you combined a DAC with parts of the BC 6000. Is this a commercial product one could purchase? Is is a BC501 or 507? Thanks.

The AB DAC is a BC501ob LOC and above and beyond. It doesn't have BC6000 parts in it. It look like BC6000 parts but they are being used differently than in the BC6000. This is a custom project but it is available for purchase. If you have something in mind, send me a private e-mail at gilbert@tlp-audio.com and we can talk in details.

The AB DAC isn't the same as any BC501ob or LOC or whatever. It is a DAC based on BC501ob LOC and improve on it. When the capacitor technology improves, I will use some newer parts with newer design and technology for custom job like this. In this case, those caps are of different brand and value compare to the production BC501ob and that's why they look different.ralphio wrote:Gilbert,

Could you outline what's changed.

The total capacitance of the AB DAC is over 2 Farads if I remember correctly without checking my record. A regular BC501ob LOC is around 800,000uF. Beside the side of the power supply, the config is also different.
