What the reviewer said about touching the prongs - is that true? I don't want to try in order to find out  .

Gilbert mentioned it would also be possible to blend SS with tube.

When I was trying to decide between 109 (SS) and 303 (tube), this would have been one option that I would have went for, assuming it would still be a no compromise design.

DD Good to see you are getting into PC audio. If you have the option of placing the computer a little further away from your rack, then you might want to give it a try. When I had the server next to the rack, it really dragged down the rest of the system. I have lined the inside of the case with ERS...

The 18x filters have been plugged in for over a week and I was surprised by the amount of change that these pipes go through during their break-in. I have to admit that I was naive and never actually anticipated any break-in period for these filters, even though I knew there are a lot of caps involv...

I have always cleaned my tube pins with Deoxit, but never the sockets. I tried Jim's suggestion of using those mini tooth brushes and they work like a charm. The tubes are very very quiet at the moment - knock on wood. http://www.gumbrand.com/interdental-brushes/products/gum-go-betweens-proxabrush-c...

Yeah I agree powering down is probably not a realistic option for your 303 ... time to stockpile some tubes :) I'm going to start turning off my amps to see if it helps preserve the tubes. I'm like you, I can't go back to the EH. I have to admit that the thought of sending the 208s in for surgery ha...

I have been using Genalex Gold Lion 6922's for over a year now. Although I love their tonality, I have been a little discouraged with their reliability lately, so I asked Jim McShane ( www.mcshanedesign.net ) on his opinion of these tubes. I have been keeping my amps on 24x7 as I believed that this ...

Nikki What you are looking for is a +20 module with a regular ac plug. However, if you are using the +20 module by itself it is not going to be as effective as using a 18X filter by itself. G Gil But, Are you saying that it is not possible to build a fully spec'd 6020 into a pipe? And it would be u...

Ice Man - Good question, I was wondering the same thing myself. Gil But - I suppose the next question would be if it is possible to build a Silly Cone filter with the same filter spec as the 6020? So in other words, a 6020 with no outlets. That would be a good application for power amps directly con...

Hey Ice Man, You have some serious conditioning in your setup - nice! 8) Do you think you have reached the threshold of filtering for your room? I'm game if Gilbert ever wants to send me a truck load of stuff to try  To be honest, I have been trying to reduce the clutter at the front o...

I'm a little late to the party, but I recently asked Gilbert if I could try some Silly Cone filters, so he sent me a couple of 6X pipes to test drive. Feeding my 208s are two dedicated 20A circuits. I have been using PS Audio Harvesters on these circuits with good results. These little things do a d...

See, BK knows. BC folks are a smart bunch, so I bet you a lot knew exactly what I was talking about. I hear you guys about fat, but my family do not like fat. If I give me daughter an 8oz tenderloin, by the time she has finished trimming all the "fat" off the steak, she has about 3oz of meat left. ....
