.."How one company can have a monopoly on Great sound.&

One doesn't but Blue Circle has a monopoly on the sound you seem to want. The 6NS7 tube has something to do with it, though the new all solid state gear (1022, O22i, NSP, NSL) have it too. The advice I offered you came from a conversation I had with Our Leader, so it's probably pretty good. Good luck.

Upgrading a BC2

Going from a BC2 to a 2K4SH may be too large a change, even with the amp's tube option. I find the tube option tempers my ELD BD's clarity a bit but it still sounds like a 2K4 Class D amp...which is a long way from a BC2. If it were possible to upgrade a BC2 to a BC 2.1 or BC2000 (it isn't), that mi...

BC2 and BC3 upgrade

Suggest you ask GY to re-build your BC2 into a 6SN7 amp with a BC206 output stage. That will add reliability and also some clarity. Keep the BC3, presumably a Despina. Just doing the work on the BC2 will keep you
within your $4K to $5K budget.

Early Impressions II: ELD BD integrated amplifier

Coming to my still (very new) ELD BD from the CSD, I can immediately hear its greater ambition. The ELD is not an amp designed to charm us. It has a more commanding personality (twice the power of the CSD) and a more expanded bandwidth. It is less of a midrange centered amp. While I am quietly pleas...

First Impressions I: BC CSD integrated amplifier

The CSD is turning out to be the perfect entry level integrated. It has a lovely midrange that is conspicuously attractive in tonality. Treble is attractive rather than brilliant, bass is natural and firm if unspectacular. There is an overall sense of the easy listening quality of the late DAR witho...

NSL

They have settled in and now just sound 'normal'...unless I go back to anything else. Even the NSP, as good as it is, now sounds a bit held in, compromised, when I switch. So the NSL is doing what all great pieces do, spoil you for anything less. One thing I haven't done yet is try it on more demand...

qualia

I didn't use it quite right, actually. What I was after was the quality of things (harshness, firmness, thickness, etc.); but what qualia actually means is our private, internal SENSE of the qualities of things...of instrumental timbre, etc. Anyway, you understood me in spite of my clumsiness. The NS...

NSL, Three Days in.

The question most of us ask about audio in the end is what do we REALLY want: sweetness? body? weight? room rattling bass ?

Another week on the 2K4.

I'm in trouble now because the amp is picking up some suavity and subtlety. Emmanuelle Bertrand's cello (new CD from HM on cello music of Dutilleux) has magic and presence to go with its warmth and weight. The cello has more character than it's had before now. I'm in trouble because gear is supposed...

Another Day...

Another day of listening to the 2K4/JMR Orfeos is showing me how addictive the unadulterated musical truth new BC style can be. I switched to a system highly regarded (by me and many others) -- the speakers retail for over $12K) for its beauty and immediately missed the...thoroughness of the 2K4/Orf...

I'm assuming you know this amp is also available in switchable tube input form...for another $1300.
